June 21, 2010

Heyyyyy Mom and Dad,

What's crackin'? I hope you had a great Father's Day Dad!  I bet you loved my card, huh? Ha-ha.

This last week went by fast . . . but it was a slow week for missionary work.  We only got two new investigators.  Not much happened. This week will be solid though. But actually we did set a baptismal date for July 10th with a guy named Milton. He's cool.  But we'll see where it goes.  We mostly tried to work with less-active families and our main investigators.

Alex and her family are doing good.  We taught them the Plan of Salvation with sidewalk chalk and that was fun. And Ryan is on track to quit a habit.  He'll be going cold turkey at the end of the month. Lookin' fresh!  Ryan is just a way chill guy. I'm stoked for him to eventually be baptized.

I love imagining the people I work with 20 years down the road . . . just raising a righteous family in the church . . .having callings and fulfilling all their responsibilities. The best! I want that for everyone!

So we had our final President's interviews with President Darrington last Wednesday.  It was the last time any of us will see President Darrington for at least the rest of our missions. Pretty weird. He's an awesome guy! I'm stoked for you both to meet him and Sister Darrington (at the fireside in Pleasant Grove). You better be there :) ! I told them you would be.

I'm excited to meet our new mission president and his wife: President and Sister Hall. I'm sure they'll be awesome.  President Hall was the vice-president of BYU Idaho before he was called to the Florida Orlando Mission. I bet he's a baller (editorial comment: for those of you below 30, baller is a good thing:)).

On Saturday, the Fort Pierce elders had a baptism and Elder Miller and I went.  Two of our investigators came. It was sweet! Ryan came and a new investigator named Can came. Can (pronounced Con) is his nickname. His real name is Anthony. But we just call him Can. Ha-ha. He has a TON of questions. They're good though. He came to church yesterday too! And we got three less-active people to come to church also! It was great!

Karolyn and Jonathan are still doing amazing. Jonathan got the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday. If I get transferred next week I'm going to miss them a lot. I definitely want to stay in good contact with everyone I work with after my mission.

Anyway, that's it for now. I miss and love you both! have a blessful week!

June 14, 2010

Heyyyyy Momma and Poppa.

First of all Dad, I’m going to give you an early "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY'! Thanks for being such a good one. It’s probably hard and stressful to try to raise a child into someone you want to be successful and happy. So thanks for trying so hard! I appreciate it :) ha-ha. Love you Dad!

So it sounds like you both are staying busy back home working hard. Glad to hear. I hope that the convention goes well Dad, as well as the design work Mom.

Things here have been good. This last week went by very fast. Friday we met with Alex and her two brothers. I don't remember if I told you about them already but they are from St Croix in the Virgin Islands and they are a really cool family. We watched the movie "The Testaments" with them and it was the first time I had seen it. I don't know if you've seen it but it's a story of what it might have been like during the Savior's ministry from the American side of the world as well as His visit to the American continent. I enjoyed it. A little corny at times, ha-ha, but good. And the Spirit was wayyy strong near the end of the movie and also after. I was feeling it so strongly that it was hard for me to talk after. But I had to man up and say something, hahaha. So I did. and when I did I started to bear testimony of Jesus Christ and how He lives and wants us all to just follow Him because it's what will make us happy and a bunch of other things I was just crying, ha-ha. And the reason for that (I realized) is because in times like that I recognize how much God has been a part of MY life and how much I’ve been blessed and it's just something I want for EVERYONE!  So I just let loose and let the tears flow like Niagara Falls, hahaha. No, it wasn't that bad but the Spirit was just very present.

On Saturday Karolyn and Jonathan took Elder Miller and me to The Golden Corral. That’s all I’ve been hearing about since I arrived in Florida from members. "Have you been to The Golden Corral!? You haven't?! Ahh, you HAVE to go!!!" It's actually pretty weird how much everyone has been telling me about it, ha-ha! But it was pretty good, "all you can eat" . . . so that was cool. Karolyn treats us so well! I love her and want you guys to meet her family. Maybe someday.

Church was good too yesterday. Alex came to church and I’m pretty sure she enjoyed it. We’re going to play tennis and some ball with her and her brothers a little later today. Oh yeah and by the way Steward dropped us. Lame. And the story behind that is that last Sunday, in priesthood meeting, we had a lesson on "hurricane preparation" so it wasn't very spiritual. He called us and said that he felt like it was more of a business than a religion, ha-ha. But we went by and gave his wife a copy of the Book of Mormon in Thai so she can read it. They are still very nice to us and say we can come over whenever but hopefully we can get him to come to church on a more normal Sunday.

But anyway that's about it for now. Tell Jake I say hi and to not mess up my room. Ha-ha kidding but tell him I love him and hope he is enjoying our home :). Love you guys! Have a blessful week (this crazy guy that we tracted wants us to not say "good' anymore. He only wants us to say 'blessful' (hahahaha) week!
Talk to you next week!

June 7, 2010

Hi Mom and Dad. Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it. You both are the best :).

This week was pretty good. A little slow. We had Zone Conference and that was reallyyy good. It was President and Sister Darrington's last Zone Conference with us because they'll be leaving at the end of this transfer. I can't believe this transfer is already half way over. It’s gone by fast. But even though I will have only known President and Sister Darrington for 5 months at the end of this transfer, I will still miss them. Because they are awesome. Amazing people! I’m sure the new mission president will be great too though.

Anyway, Karolyn and Jonathan are doing good. They are the best family! I didn't see them at church though so we'll have to go by and see how they are doing. And we had another man come to church for the first time. His name is Steward. He’s awesome. So we'll see what happens there.

And now it's Zone P-Day. We went to the beach this morning to take pictures of the sunrise. For the Coastal Zones, we get to do that every other transfer. So we got to do it again this transfer. It was cool but there were so many sand fleas, ha-ha. Pretty annoying. I got a few good shots though. And then we went to Denny’s and ate breakfast. And now we're all at the chapel and I just played some basketball. And after this I’m going to go watch a little bit of "The Lion King", ha-ha. And then play some more ball.

So Elder Miller's 21st birthday was last Wednesday. And I got up early that morning and made him breakfast in bed! Hahaha! Pretty cool, huh? And I put a little candle in it and took it in while he was sleeping and started to sing the Happy Birthday song. Ha-ha it was fun! I took a video of it so I’ll see if I can send it to you somehow.

One more thing I wanted to tell you before I get off was that President and Sister Darrington will be speaking at a fireside in Pleasant Grove in July and I wanted to see if you would be able to make it. All the details are in my planner but I don't have it with me right now so I’ll get that to you next week or something. I think it would be nice for you to be able to meet them.

Anyway that's about it for now. But I love you guys and thank you for the support you give me on my mission. :)
Have a great week!
